The province with its own language, its own rules and its own winter
Quebec books chauffeurs the way a province with two large cities, a distinct legal tradition and the country's deepest winter does: bilingual chauffeurs are not a courtesy but a requirement, the winter-tyre law from the first of December to the fifteenth of March is a matter of the Highway Safety Code, the roads are famous for their orange cones, and the festivals - the Grand Prix, the Jazz Festival, the Carnaval - fill the cars a month ahead. Montreal and Quebec City have their own pages; Gatineau is covered on the Ottawa page; Laval, Longueuil, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Saguenay and every other address in the province price on the same engine to the same standard, with a chauffeur who works in the language you choose. This page is the rest of the map.

The airports
Montréal-Trudeau with its single terminal and its three arrival areas is the province's gateway and has its own guide; Québec City Jean Lesage has its own; Mirabel handles the cargo and the aerospace plants; Saint-Hubert on the South Shore handles the growing low-cost service; Sherbrooke, Mont-Tremblant, Bagotville, Rouyn-Noranda and the Gaspé's fields handle the regions. Every one is on the airports page and on the engine.
The autoroutes and the corridors
The 20 and the 40 along the Saint Lawrence between Montreal and Quebec City are the province's spine; the 15 north to the Laurentians and south to the US border at Lacolle; the 10 south-east to the Townships; the 417 west to Ottawa; the 55 and the 73 to the regions; the 138 along the north shore to Charlevoix and the Côte-Nord; the 132 around the Gaspé. The city-to-city service prices each as a fixed fare with the return built in.
| Corridor | Approx. km | Off-peak hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Montreal - Quebec City | 250 | 2.5 | 20 or 40; winter-tyre law Dec-Mar |
| Montreal - Ottawa / Gatineau | 200 | 2 | 40 + 417 |
| Montreal - Mont-Tremblant | 130 | 1.5 | 15 + 117; ski weekends |
| Montreal - Eastern Townships (Magog / Bromont / Sutton) | 120 | 1.5 | 10; wine and ski |
| Montreal - Sherbrooke | 150 | 1.75 | 10 |
| Montreal - Trois-Rivières | 140 | 1.5 | 40 |
| Montreal - Toronto | 540 | 5.5 | 20 + 401; bilingual chauffeur |
| Montreal - Burlington, VT (cross-border) | 160 | 2 + border | 15 + I-89 via Lacolle |
| Quebec City - Charlevoix (Baie-Saint-Paul / La Malbaie) | 100 / 150 | 1.5 / 2 | 138 |
| Quebec City - Tadoussac | 230 | 3 | 138 + ferry |
| Quebec City - Saguenay | 210 | 2.5 | 175 through the park |
| Quebec City - Gaspé | 700 | 8 | 20 + 132; multi-day with overnight |
Figures are approximate; the engine prices the exact address. The Autoroute 30 bypass and the Autoroute 25 bridge carry tolls the chauffeur avoids unless they save real time.
The winter-tyre law and the winter
Quebec's Highway Safety Code requires winter tyres on every passenger vehicle from December 1 to March 15 and the SAAQ enforces it; every vehicle in the fleet runs them through the season, and the chauffeurs have driven the province's winters for years. The winter itself is the country's deepest in its cities: snow that stays from November to April, streets that narrow by a lane on each side, the Turcot and the Décarie in Montreal and the 40 in a storm, the Laurentian roads to the ski hills, and the carnival's minus twenty. Québec 511 is what dispatch reads before every long pickup, and a closed autoroute is a phone call before the pickup, not after.
The language
Every chauffeur in Quebec works in French and English, the confirmation arrives in the language you booked in, and the desk answers the phone in either; a chauffeur who also speaks Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Mandarin is available on request in Montreal. The corporate account's invoice is issued in the language the account chose.
The sectors that book the corporate account
Aerospace in Saint-Laurent, Mirabel and Longueuil, pharma in the West Island and Laval, the AI labs in Montreal, the banks and the law firms on René-Lévesque, the National Assembly and the ministries in Quebec City, the insurers headquartered in both cities, the universities from McGill to Laval, the mining companies in Rouyn and the aluminium smelters in the Saguenay: the account's one monthly invoice covers Trudeau on Monday and Jean Lesage on Thursday, in either language.
The occasions
The Old Montreal and Old Quebec weddings, the vineyard weddings in the Townships and on the Île d'Orléans, the sugar-shack season in March and April, the bal des finissants in June, the Canadiens, the Alouettes, CF Montréal and the Remparts, the Grand Prix, the Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs, Osheaga, the Festival d'été and the Carnaval: the wedding, prom, sporting events and nights out pages cover each.
The Laurentians, the Townships, Charlevoix and the Gaspé
Mont-Tremblant and the Laurentian villages ninety minutes north of Montreal, the Townships' wineries and ski hills ninety minutes south-east, Charlevoix's Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie ninety minutes and two hours east of Quebec City on the province's most beautiful road, Tadoussac's whales three hours, the Saguenay's fjord, and the Gaspé's loop over several days with the chauffeur's overnights quoted: the city-to-city service prices the drives, the hourly chauffeur the days, and the travel desk the inns.
The rules a passenger might want to know
Chauffeurs hold the SAAQ's Class 4C for taxis and limousines or the Class 4B for the larger vehicles, and the vehicles carry the province's commercial passenger insurance; the Bureau du taxi in Montreal and the Commission des transports regulate the trade. Winter tyres are the law from December 1 to March 15. Child restraints are required by the Highway Safety Code until the child is 145 centimetres tall or nine years old, and the chauffeur fits the seat at no charge when it is noted at booking. The drinking age is eighteen and alcohol in a vehicle is permitted only in a licensed limousine with a partition, for passengers of age.
What a limo costs in Quebec
Fixed by the addresses and the vehicle class, shown before you book. Trudeau to downtown Montreal in an Executive Sedan is the province's most-booked transfer; the corridors are fixed fares with the return built in; the wedding, the bal and the festival evening are priced by the hour with a minimum. No surge on a Grand Prix weekend, no meter, no gratuity added. The fleet page has the capacities.
Cross-border from Quebec
Lacolle on the 15 to Plattsburgh and Burlington, Vermont, and the drive on to Boston and New York; Stanstead on the 55 to Vermont's Interstate 91; Armstrong on the 173 to Maine: the cross-border service runs on our own cars with bilingual chauffeurs who read the CBP wait times before choosing the crossing.
Two questions Quebec travellers ask the desk
Do we need to speak French? No; the desk and the chauffeurs work in both languages, and the confirmation arrives in the one you booked in. Is the 138 to Charlevoix open in winter? Yes, and it is beautiful; Québec 511 is read before departure and the SUV runs the winter tyres the law requires. A third, asked every June: the Grand Prix weekend's cars are booked a month ahead.

Booking notes by vehicle class in Quebec
The Executive Sedan is the Trudeau-to-downtown car and the corridor car on the 20 and the 40; the Premium Sedan is the René-Lévesque and National Assembly choice; the Luxury SUV is the Tremblant and Townships vehicle with the skis or the wine and the one to book for Charlevoix in February; the Executive Sprinter carries the wedding party, the bal group, the Grand Prix hospitality team and the ski house's household; the Stretch Limousine is the bal and wedding car and the only vehicle in which the province's alcohol rule permits a glass; the Minicoach is the corporate shuttle and the sugar-shack vehicle for a group of twenty. The fleet page has the capacities and the booking page prices each class against the address.
Three Quebec itineraries the desk builds most often
The Trudeau-to-Tremblant ski transfer. Pickup at the international arrivals with the flight tracked, the 15 and the 117 to the resort in ninety minutes in an SUV with the skis, and the return at the week's end - one fixed fare each way with the return built in, and the Montreal page covers the airport end.
The Quebec City Carnaval weekend. Jean Lesage pickup Friday, the Château or the Old Town hotel, the chauffeur by the hour Saturday for the parade and the ice palace at minus twenty with the car warm, the sugar shack or the Île d'Orléans Sunday, the airport Monday - one plan, one invoice, and the Quebec City page has the winter.
The Townships wine and cheese day. Downtown Montreal pickup, the 10 to Dunham and Bromont in ninety minutes, four vineyards and an abbey by the hour with the chauffeur waiting, dinner in Magog, and the return - the hourly rate for the day, and the hourly chauffeur page has the minimum.
The Quebec numbers a traveller might want
Quebec is home to roughly nine million people and its capital is the only walled city north of Mexico; Montréal-Trudeau handled more than twenty million passengers in its last full year and Jean Lesage close to two million; the winter-tyre law has applied to every passenger vehicle since 2008 and the SAAQ publishes the dates; and the province's twenty-nine thousand kilometres of numbered roads include the Autoroute 20 and 40 corridors that carry most of its business between the two cities. Tourisme Québec and Aéroports de Montréal publish the rest.
