The keystone province
Manitoba books chauffeurs for a capital that holds most of its people, for the Prairie winter that makes a warm car at the curb the whole point, and for the transport industry that makes Winnipeg the country's freight crossroads. Winnipeg and its airport have their own pages; Brandon, Steinbach, Portage la Prairie, Gimli, Selkirk, Thompson and every other address in the province price on the same engine to the same standard. This page is the rest of the map: the airports, the Trans-Canada and Highway 75, the corridors, the Interlake summers and the January cold, the sectors, the occasions and the provincial rules.

The airports
Winnipeg Richardson International - eight kilometres from Portage and Main, the closest big-city airport to its downtown in the country - has its own guide; Brandon handles the west's regional flights; Thompson, The Pas, Flin Flon and Churchill handle the north and the polar-bear season; the northern communities' flights leave from Winnipeg's terminal. Every one is on the airports page and on the engine.
The Trans-Canada, Highway 75 and the corridors
The Trans-Canada Highway 1 runs east to the Ontario border and the Whiteshell and west through Portage la Prairie to Brandon and Saskatchewan; Highway 75 runs south to the Emerson crossing and Grand Forks; Highway 8 north to Gimli and the Interlake; Highway 59 south-east to Steinbach; Highway 6 north to Thompson. The city-to-city service prices each as a fixed fare with the return built in.
| Corridor | Approx. km | Off-peak hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winnipeg - Brandon | 200 | 2 | Trans-Canada; ground blizzards in winter |
| Winnipeg - Portage la Prairie | 85 | 1 | Trans-Canada |
| Winnipeg - Steinbach | 65 | 0.75 | Highway 59 + 12 |
| Winnipeg - Gimli / Winnipeg Beach | 85 / 60 | 1 / 0.75 | Highway 8; Icelandic Festival in August |
| Winnipeg - Selkirk / Lower Fort Garry | 35 | 0.5 | Highway 9 |
| Winnipeg - Whiteshell (Falcon Lake) | 150 | 1.5 | Trans-Canada east |
| Winnipeg - Kenora, ON | 210 | 2.25 | Trans-Canada east |
| Winnipeg - Hecla Island | 175 | 2 | Highway 8 |
| Winnipeg - Grand Forks, ND (cross-border) | 230 | 2.5 + border | Highway 75 via Emerson |
| Winnipeg - Fargo, ND (cross-border) | 350 | 3.5 + border | Highway 75 + I-29 |
| Winnipeg - Regina | 570 | 5.5 | Trans-Canada west |
| Winnipeg - Thompson | 760 | 8 | Highway 6; overnight quoted |
Figures are approximate; the engine prices the exact address. There are no road tolls in Manitoba.
The Prairie winter
From November to March the province's roads are snow-packed, a January cold snap holds below minus thirty for a week, and the wind across the open plain turns the Trans-Canada and Highway 75 into ground-blizzard risks that close them a few days a season; the spring flood on the Red River closes the low roads some Aprils. Every vehicle in the fleet runs winter tyres and block heaters, the chauffeurs keep the car warm at the curb - the airport permits it at the pre-arranged area - and Manitoba 511 is what dispatch reads before every long pickup; a closed highway is a phone call before the pickup, and a trip that cannot go is cancelled without charge.
The Interlake, the Whiteshell and the summer
Gimli's Icelandic Festival in August, Winnipeg Beach and Grand Beach on Lake Winnipeg, the Whiteshell's lakes on the Ontario border, Riding Mountain National Park three hours north-west, Hecla Island's resort: the province's summer weekends are city-to-city fixed fares with the return built in, in an SUV that takes the cottage's supplies, and the Folk Festival at Birds Hill in July has a shuttle lot the chauffeurs know.
The sectors that book the corporate account
The transport and logistics companies at the freight crossroads, the insurers on Portage, the grain trade at the Exchange, the aerospace firms beside the airport, the provincial government at the legislature, the University of Manitoba and the Health Sciences Centre, the mining companies whose northern flights leave from Winnipeg: the corporate account's one monthly invoice covers the airport transfer, the hourly day and the 7 am northern departure.
The occasions
The wedding socials that are a Manitoba institution, the weddings that follow them, the safe-grad shuttles the schools book for the whole class in June, the Jets' whiteout, the Bombers' Sundays and the Grey Cup years, Festival du Voyageur in February, Folklorama in August and the Fringe: the wedding, prom, sporting events and nights out pages cover each.
The rules a passenger might want to know
Chauffeurs hold the province's Class 4 licence for taxis, limousines and small buses and the vehicles carry commercial passenger insurance through Manitoba Public Insurance; the city licenses the operators. Winter tyres are not required by law but every vehicle in the fleet runs them. Child restraints are required by the Highway Traffic Act until the child is nine, 145 centimetres or thirty-six kilograms, and the chauffeur fits the seat at no charge when it is noted at booking. The drinking age is eighteen and alcohol in a vehicle is permitted only in a licensed limousine with a partition, for passengers of age.
What a limo costs in Manitoba
Fixed by the addresses and the vehicle class, shown before you book. The airport to downtown Winnipeg in an Executive Sedan is the province's most-booked transfer and one of the lowest airport fares on this site; Brandon and the Interlake are fixed fares with the return built in; the social, the grad and the festival evening are priced by the hour with a minimum. No surge on a playoff night, no meter, no gratuity added. The fleet page has the capacities.
Cross-border from Manitoba
The Emerson crossing on Highway 75 to Grand Forks and Fargo is the province's border, and the cross-border service runs to Grand Forks' airport and shopping and to Fargo and Minneapolis on our own cars; every passenger needs a passport or NEXUS card, and the chauffeur reads the CBP wait times before the trip.
Two questions Manitoba travellers ask the desk
Is the Trans-Canada open to Brandon? Manitoba 511's answer on a winter morning, read before every corridor departure; a ground blizzard closes it a few days a season. Can the Sprinter do the social and the wedding? Yes, as one plan with one deposit, and the same chauffeur when the dates allow. A third, asked every summer: the Icelandic Festival's August long weekend fills Highway 8 and the Gimli cars are booked a month ahead.
The Manitoba year, month by month
| Month | What fills the cars | Book by |

| March | The Brier or the Scotties when Winnipeg hosts; March break; the ice roads close | two weeks ahead |

Booking notes by vehicle class in Manitoba
The Executive Sedan is the airport-to-downtown car and the Brandon corridor car; the Premium Sedan is the Portage and Main and legislature choice; the Luxury SUV is the Interlake, Whiteshell and Riding Mountain vehicle and the one to book for a ground-blizzard month; the Executive Sprinter carries the social, the wedding party, the safe-grad class and the lake weekend's household; the Stretch Limousine is the grad and wedding car and the only vehicle in which the province's alcohol rule permits a glass; the Minicoach is the corporate shuttle and the social's vehicle for twenty. The fleet page has the capacities and the booking page prices each class against the address.
Three Manitoba itineraries the desk builds most often
The airport-to-downtown transfer at minus thirty. Pickup at the pre-arranged area with the flight tracked, the car running at the curb, and eight kilometres to the hotel - the province's most-booked transfer, one fixed fare, and the Winnipeg airport page covers the terminal.
The social and the wedding as one plan. The Sprinter for the social's shuttle in the spring, the Stretch Limousine or the SUV for the couple on the day, the Sprinter for the party and the guests, and the shuttle home - one plan, one deposit, and the Winnipeg page has the halls.
The Gimli August long weekend. Downtown pickup Friday, Highway 8 to Gimli in an hour with the cottage's supplies in an SUV, the chauffeur by the hour for the Icelandic Festival's parade and the harbour, and the return Monday - fixed fares with the return built in, and the city-to-city page has the corridor.
The Manitoba numbers a traveller might want
Manitoba is home to roughly one and a half million people, more than half of them in Winnipeg; Richardson International handled more than four million passengers in its last full year and sits eight kilometres from Portage and Main; the Red River Floodway has protected the city more than thirty times since 1968 and the spring flood watch is a real date on the calendar; and the province's roughly nineteen thousand kilometres of provincial road include the Trans-Canada crossing from Ontario to Saskatchewan. Manitoba 511, the Winnipeg Airports Authority and Travel Manitoba publish the figures.
Winnipeg's airport curb, explained
Richardson International has one terminal and one arrivals level, and the pre-arranged pickup area sits at the west end of the curb where the chauffeur is permitted to wait with the engine running - the reason the car is warm in January. A domestic arrival is met at the curb with thirty minutes of waiting built into the fare; an international arrival, which clears customs in the same terminal, is met in the arrivals hall with a name board and sixty minutes; a delayed flight is tracked and the chauffeur re-timed without charge. The chauffeur loads the bags, the drive to Portage and Main is twelve minutes on Route 90 and Portage Avenue, and the fare shown at booking is the fare paid. A passenger connecting to a northern flight - Thompson, Churchill, the Kivalliq - books the hotel-to-airport transfer for the 7 am departure the night before and the desk confirms it before the passenger sleeps.
Manitoba: questions answered
Which Manitoba cities have their own pages?
Winnipeg and its airport. Brandon, Steinbach, Portage la Prairie, Gimli, Selkirk, Thompson and every other address price on the same engine to the same standard.
How long is Winnipeg to Brandon by chauffeured car?
About two hours on the Trans-Canada, one fixed fare with the return built in; Manitoba 511 is read for ground blizzards in winter.
Is the car warm at minus thirty?
Yes - winter tyres, block heaters and a chauffeur who has the car running at the curb before you reach it.
Do you do wedding socials?
Yes - a Sprinter that collects the party, delivers everyone to the hall and runs the shuttle home, priced by the hour, and bookable with the wedding as one plan.
Can you take us to Gimli, the Whiteshell or Riding Mountain?
Yes - Gimli in an hour, the Whiteshell in ninety minutes, Riding Mountain in three hours, as fixed fares with the return built in.
